What are your plans for Fourth of July?

Around this time every year, we typically find ourselves asking the same question: where will we celebrate the Fourth of July? Whether you live in Gainesville, Va., Haymarket or Bristow, there are quite a few options.

The Fourth of JNorthern Va Realtoruly, or Independence Day, marks the birthdate of America.  It all began back in July of 1776 when the thirteen colonies sought independence from Great Britain.  To this day, we are blessed to be able to celebrate this incredible country. We celebrate with delicious barbeques, music, and parades around family and friends, but seeing those fireworks in the night sky bring back the incredible history of our nation’s birth.  So where will you be enjoying this celebration?  Listed below are ten different places to view this incredible celebration in the Northern Virginia area on Saturday July 4, 2015:

Culpeper: Come check out Culpeper’s all day celebration beginning at 8:00 a.m. with the “Freedom 5K Race”. Other such activities include the Vintage Car and Bike Show, Patriotic Presentation, Main Street Parade, Dinner and Music in the Park, and finally the firework show beginning at 9:15 p.m.  Events will be held at Yowell Meadow Park, which is located at the intersection of N Blue Ridge Ave. and Route 522 North, Culpeper, VA 22701.  For more information, please check out Culpeper Fireworks.

Fairfax: The July 4th Fairfax City, Independence Day Parade will process through the downtown area beginning at 10 a.m. There will be musical entertainment beginning at 7 p.m. at Fairfax High School (3501 Rebel Run, Fairfax, VA 22030) with a spectacular fireworks display at dark. Falls Church: If you are in the Falls Church area, head on over to George Mason High School located at 7124 Leesburg Pike, Falls Church, Virginia. There will be live music will starting at 7:00 p.m. followed by fireworks at 9:20 p.m.  For more information, please check out Falls Church Fireworks.

Leesburg: Make your way over to Ida Lee Park (60 Ida Lee Dr NW, Leesburg, VA 20176) if you’re in Leesburg for an all day event.  Beginning at 10 a.m. is the parade and later in the evening starting at 6:00 p.m. begins the big celebration of country music, delicious food, and a fireworks show starting at 9:30 p.m.  For more information, please check out Leesburg Fireworks.

Manassas: Manassas will be lighting up with live music, children’s activities, food and fireworks.  Come to 9431 West Street area to enjoy this entertainment beginning at 4 p.m. Fireworks will start at 9:15 p.m. For more information, please check out Manassas Fireworks.

Herndon: Bready Park (Herndon Community Center at 814 Ferndale Ave. Herndon, Virginia) will have arts, crafts, and live music beginning at 6:30 p.m. Fireworks will start shortly after at 9:30 p.m.  For more information, please check out Herndon Fireworks.

 

The Plains: July 4th at Great Meadows (5089 Old Tavern Road in The Plains, VA 20198. There are fun activities for children, polo exhibitions, fireworks, and much more.  The event begins at 4:00 p.m. and the firework show will begin at dark.  For more information, please check out The Plains Fireworks.

Washington DC:

Independence Day Parade: The parade will begin on Constitution Ave and 7th Street and continue until 17th Street. starting at 11:45 a.m.  It will feature marching bands, military, floats, and much more.

4th of July at the National Archives: If you want a fun and educational activity during the daytime, the National Archives if for you.  Come in anytime from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. to celebrate the signing of our independence.

4th of July Fireworks on the National Mall: The fireworks show will begin around 9:15 p.m. The fireworks are launched from the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool and light up the sky over the Washington Monument. Other places in the city to view this show include: FDR Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, U.S. Capitol, among many others.
