8 Things Realtors Do for Their Clients

Everyone wants to know, “What does a Realtor really do for me?”  Well, as a realtor, I can tell you that we are very busy.  Here’s a list of eight things we do for you.

Marketing

Agents do not get paid until the deal is done, so they spend their own money on marketing such as professional photos, fliers, postcards, premium placements on listing sights, magazine and newspaper ads, and social media ad placements.

Online Searches

Listings come and go fast in the real estate market, so agents check the multiple listing service database constantly, or they may miss something.  Agents are also online previewing homes for out of state clients, looking up flood zones, analyzing the market trends, and many other things.

Prospecting

Realtors drive around and check out new listings.  Sometimes it is better to see a property in person after you have looked at the photos online.

Pitch it to other Agents

Agents spend time with other Agents and swap listing information in order to spread the word about a property they are selling or to find a house that is perfect for their client.

Offers and Counteroffers

Offers and counteroffers are an extremely important part of the transaction since they can mean thousands of dollars for their client.  It may take several offers and counteroffers to get the right price.  It is a time consuming process, but agents are trained in how to do it properly and how to keep track of everything.

Attend Inspections

It is not necessary for an agent to be present at a home inspection, but a good agent will be there.  This will allow them to see exactly what is going on and communicate any problems to the home owner immediately.

Troubleshoot

Unfortunately, not every sale is problem free.  Experienced agents are able to troubleshoot and solve problems without involving the homeowners.  Agents shield their clients from unnecessary drama and do what needs to be done to fix the situation.

Remain Calm

Home buying and selling is stressful.  Emotions run high when it involves your home.  Your agent should always remain calm and spend time keeping you calm as well.
